Thank you, Rob and Denise Rosenberger

Written by Gordon Fecyk, 8/10/2005

ROSEBNERGER noted this fact farther down in the same newsletter, but the first reference did not undergo a proper proofreading due to the death of his wife. (Emphasis mine.) We sincerely regret the error.

This caught me off guard because I don't regularly subscribe to the VMyths newsletters. I get enough e-mail as it is.

MASTER SERGEANT DENISE ROSENBERGER died suddenly in her home, according to Kalona News, on July 29th, 2005. I only knew her from her brief appearances in audio columns and photographs, though I suspect she had a unique appreciation for Rob's brand of humour and he no doubt drew inspiration from her.

I can only guess that the anti-virus firm that caught him on this slip-up had no clue this had happened. I suppose in another context, he would have laughed at himself for not performing basic fact checking. Maybe he still does, and I hope he does. We need more laughter in this industry.

I know it isn't much, but please accept my thanks for your work and for hers. It's the bare minimum I can do for my favorite "instructor messiah."

In an unrelated matter, someone replaced the vmyths.com home page with a continuously-refreshing "Untitled Document" some time on September 21st 2005. As if Rosenberger wasn't having a hard enough time.

The Anti-Windows Catalog relies heavily on Rosenberger's insight. Pan-Am Internet Services received authorization to republish selections of his work in order to continue drawing on this insight. Thanks again. To paraphrase the 'instructor messiah' himself: Wish I could restore my wife as easily as I could restore VMyths...

(Sure enough, as of September 22nd, VMyths lives again.)

To the best of our knowledge, Rosenberger's Cafepress sites remain up, including Osama Bin Virus, My virus expert can beat up your virus expert, Euthanize The Internet, Debunking Richard Clarke, Operation Internet Freedom, All Hail The Jerk, and the I paid $99.95 for this donation item sites.
