Pervasive SQL Client 8 and later

Category:

Software Development

Problems:

"Runtime" errors in Pervasive SQL applications, such as Sage ACCPAC, while using them as a limited user.

Pervasive's SQL client makes run-time changes to ODBC system data sources, and writes to log files in %systemroot%. These are read-only to limited users.

Workarounds:

Follow Pervasive Software's instructions for Pervasive SQL v9 on Vista. While many permission settings are already correct for Windows XP, adjust the ones that are not. If files or registry keys are missing, create them and apply Pervasive's recommended permissions.

Once completed, Pervasive applications should run correctly for limited users. Perform any additional steps needed for those specific applications.
